City Officials Close Bars and Limit Restaurants

Austin Follows Big Texas City Suit, Closing Bars and Limiting Restaurants

You Can Still Order Dine-Out and Delivery In The ATX

March 17, 2020

Once we saw Dallas and Houston close their bars, we knew it would be a matter of time before Austin followed suit.  Surprisingly, Monday night went by socially without a hitch across the ATX.  Bars were less packed, but indeed had a steady trail of clientale  Then, around noon on Tuesday March 17th, the announcement came down.

So at minimum, we are looking at May 1st for things to return to normal on the bar/restaurant scene.  We are bracing for longer.

Also, gatherings of 10 or more people will be prohibited, in the city's efforts to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt made the announcement at City Hall Tuesday afternoon.  For more info, visit our sister station by clicking this link.
