Mixed Emotions Weekend, Somber Start To Week

August 4, 2019

Well, that was an emotional weekend.  Let's start with the positives.  Being able to give away tickets to my all-time favorite hip hop group (Wu-Tang Clan) was a dream come true.  They are coming to Austin on October 7th at ACL Live Moody Theater. I've been down with the Wu since "36 Chambers", but also through all the solo Wu projects.  Tied for my favorite, GZA's 'Liquid Swords' and Raekown's 'Only Built For Cuban Links...'.  Those two album really turned out my infactuation with Wu Tang.  Thanks to all who listened in this weekend to attempt to win tickets.  Working weekends isn't always fun - unless you're giving out tickets to the Wu!

Another positive was the Mary J. Blige/Nas concert on Saturday night at ACL Live Moody Theater!  Two legends that I've admired since Day One (Mary, since 'What's the 411' album debut - and Nas since 'Illmatic' debut was rated by The Source Magazine with 5 mics).  Shout out to Austin 360 Amphitheater for bringing the throwback heat this Summer (which continues with TLC/Nelly/Flo-Rida on August 22).

Lots of postive things this past weekend.  Former President Barack Obama turned 58.  Ausitn Independent School District had several uber-successful school supply drives, and we even got some heat-relief from the rain on Sunday.  My kinfolk DJ 2DQ started some new gigs over the weekend, too!

My top pick for the weekend?  My brother, Big Ced 'The Fly Guy With the Bow Ties', celebrated his one year wedding anniversary with my sister, Jenni!

This was all overshadowed by the shootings in El Paso and Ohio.

Because I don't handle tragedy like these so well, I'll basically wrap today's blog with the above post from El Arroyo.   There are just no words....we are better than this.  Aren't we??
